The company was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke MBE (1925–1995) and was initially headquartered in a Nissan Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived) – a metal-working company on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent.

The Q100 bookshelf speaker uses a 130mm Uni-Q array in the latest and most refined form, providing a more accurate sound image dispersed more evenly throughout the room. The Q100 features switchable bi-wire terminals and an integral wall bracket. Spec

The Q300 bookshelf speaker uses a larger 165mm Uni-Q array together with a larger cabinet volume compared to the Q100. The increased cabinet size provides greater bass extension whilst retaining elegance with the sharp, exact lines of its design. Available for demonstration. Spec

The Q500 is the first of three floorstanding models and features 130mm Uni-Q array with a 130mm LF unit and twin Auxillary Bass Radiators. The addition of the ABR drive units help to increase the low frequency extension whilst retaining a slim and slender cabinet design. Spec

The Q700 features a 165mm Uni-Q array with a 25mm diameter tweeter. As with all models in the all new Q Series floor standing models, the Q700 has large floor spikes to provide extra rigidity to aid performance and safety as well as a 25mm thick front baffle in which the drive units are mounted. The Q900 features a 200mm diameter Uni-Q array, the first time an 8" unit has been used since the 1980's. A 200mm LF unit and twin ABR units help to make this 'performance first' model a dynamic and class leading speaker that is hard to match at this price. Spec

The all new KEF R300 stand mount speaker is the larger of the two stand mount models from the all new R Series. The R300 features a dedicated 125mm MF and 165mm LF drive units, making this model a 3-way design with a reflex port. RRP £1,000.00pr.

The KEF R500 is the first of three floor standing models from the all new R Series. The newly developed 125mm Uni-Q drive unit assembly featured in this product is derived from the KEF Blade. The tangerine wave guide tweeter arrangement helps improve efficiency and provides wider dispersion of the HF unit. RRP £1,500.00pr.

The new KEF R700 uses two 16.5cm LF units mounted either side of the Uni-Q drive unit assembly. This drive unit configuration is known as a D'Appolito arrangement and provides smoother integration of the drive units (also features on R500 and R900 models) RRP £2,000.00pr.

The new KEF R900 uses 2 x 20cm LF units mounted either side of the Uni-Q drive unit assembly in a D'Appolito arrangement for smoother integration of the separate drive units. The reflex ports have been engineered using CFD technology.
