1980 to 1987 saw PLINIUS launch and refine its trademark Preamplifiers and Power Amplifiers, ranging in power from 50 to 200W. The clarity and depth that these offerings brought to musical reproductive quality quickly established PLINIUS as the pre-eminent brand for amplifiers among audiophiles in New Zealand and throughout the Pacific.

The new PLINIUS look has been very well received by the Audio Public but the distinctive curves have created a gap. Very quickly we found that a source component was needed to match. We didn't really want to develop a CD Player as there are many very competent designs available but we were unable to withstand the constant pressure from our customers. Spec

In true PLINIUS tradition we have approached the development of our CD Player from a different angle. We have always felt that the potential of Redbook CD has held promise but has been short on delivery. In our research we have listened long and hard to SACD and other formats but we have elected to stick with Redbook because of the results achieved and to support the extensive CD collections our customers already have.
